May  6 NIChallenge Adventure Race. 2nd annual sprint adventure race featuring mountain biking, trail running, paddling, and basic navigation including obstacles to test teamwork and physical and mental skills. Begins at 9 a.m. at Beauty Creek Campground on Lake Coeur d’Alene. $75 per person and teams of two or four are welcome in co-ed, all-male or all-female divisions. May  12-13 Joyeux Noel. Movie portrayed in real story-telling fashion about the true story of how, on Christmas Eve 1914, troops from the French, Scottish, and German fronts dropped their weapons and walked out onto the battlefield near the French border to exchange gifts, greetings, and song. May  13 CAL Western Dinner/Auction Party. The Community Assistance League (CAL) sponsors this annual fund-raiser at the Bonner County Fairgrounds at 6:30 p.m. Event includes dinner, auction, casino and music. 208-263-7881

May  13-14 Pend d’Oreille Winery Huckleberry Blush Release. Annual release coincides with Mother’s Day weekend at Pend d’Oreille Winery. 208-265-8545

May  18-21 Lost in the ’50s. The weekend when Sandpoint goes retro, with hundreds of cars in the vintage car parade and show, plus dance shows and concerts with favorite performers from the `50s and `60s, a street dance, a car rally and fun run. 208-265-5678

May  19 Artist Lecture Dinner. The final artist lecture dinner in a series of three features vocalist/pianist Amy Craven and her husband Rob Kincaid, a baritone and founder of Flat Hat Productions, at 6 p.m. at the Hope Memorial Community Center. A dinner catered by Dock of the Bay is served at 7 p.m., and the presentation is at 8 p.m. A door prize is awarded at each performance. Advance tickets are required and cost $25. May  25-27 Sophie Scholl: The Final Days. This is an important and unforgettable film and a beautifully acted drama, telling the true story of Sophie Scholl, the young student who became the most famous member of the anti-Nazi White Rose resistance movement in Munich. 14-17 Plein Air Paint Out. More than 20 artists from throughout Idaho and Bonner County will paint outside for two days, capturing scenes depicting the natural beauty surrounding Sandpoint, and then showcase their paintings at a reception June 17 on the Cedar Street Bridge. The winner receives $500; their original artwork will then be auctioned during the event on June 17. This first annual event is sponsored by Timber Stand Gallery, Windermere Idaho First Realty and Panhandle State Bank. 208 263-7748

June 16-17 Young Writers of the Lost Horse.  Lost Horse Press & East Bonner County Library will present this 5th annual young adult writing and book arts conference.  Incorporating this year's theme, Telling Our Stories, children in grades 5 through 12 will learn about prose, poetry, book binding and cartooning.  Free for all Bonner County students, including home-schooled children.  208-255-4410

June 16-July 18 ArtWalk I. August 5 Long Bridge Swim. Hundreds of swimmers compete in a 2-mile swim across Lake Pend Oreille in this 11th annual event. 208-265-5412

In October Oompa Fest. Fourth annual Oktoberfest at Schweitzer featuring live polka music, microbrews, bratwursts and sauerkraut, scarecrow-making contest for kids, noon to 5 p.m. 208-263-9555

In October All Bonner County Bazaar. The Sandpoint Civic Club sponsors this arts and crafts festival and sale at the Sandpoint Community Hall.

In October Harvestfest. The Sandpoint Farmers Market closes out the season with entertainment, food, booths, arts and crafts, and displays at Farmin Park, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

In October Warren Miller Ski Film. Annual event sponsored by Alpine Shop, 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Panida. 208-263-5157
